there will never be another classic album that is classically comparable to the classics we all know and love

hiphop is too commercial and marketed now, lacks the median in once had between the mainstream and underground, between the hitmaking gimmicks and artistic integrity

Over The Past Few Years I Think These New Rappers Are Actually Trying To Make Masterpieces But To No Avail
& As Far As TPAB Is Concerned It Is NOT A Classic But A Verrry Good Solid Album But Lets Stop Acting Like That Album Is So "Groundbreaking"..Its Basically Digable Planets "Blowout Comb" Album Mixed With George Clinton Parliament & Thats Cool But It Is Not A Classic & These Other Albums Like Forrest Hills Drive, Album About Nothing, Etc. Don't Even Come Close

nah, great point but nah.

we're just in the dark ages right now...but the sun is about to rise. TPAB is just the beginning of it.

People were saying this "hip hop is dead" shyt when Diddy shifted the culture in 1997 also. just have to wait

I have yet to see an actual great argument as to why TPAB isn't classic. I keep seeing bullshyt reasons "it just came out" "people did the jazzy rap shyt before" "his voice"

a lot of people bumping something means classic now...smarten up

Or Maybe They're Saying That Because It's Not A Classic Album :ohhh:
I'm Still Tryna Figure Out
a)Why Exactly Is It A Classic Album Other Than The Fact That It's Musically Different From Every Other Hip Hop Album Out At The Moment
b)Why People Think Having A Good Album That's Not A "Classic" Is So Bad
c)How & When Kendrick Fans Got So Annoying..I Been A Fan Of Him Since I Heard His Verse On "How Are Far We Go" With Smoke DZA But Damn Ya'll Making Me Not Even Wanna Like The Nygga Anymore

the music sounds horrible and has zero replay value.

Good enough?

to YOU

it's about to go platinum so you're obvious in the minority. I'm not even a sales kind of person

horrible? just say you don't like the album, all these other reasons and comments are bullshyt

Meaningless.

your first argument is to jump to sales, which makes me think you're a pop fan. Sellable does not equal dope. At some point you'll figure this out.

If you said some other shyt analyzing the quality of the music, then jumped to sales to finalize your argument, then I could respect that.

Either way, going platinum after months of a blitzkrieg of Interscope's machine marketing is pretty fukking pathetic. The reality is that most people don't give a fukk about Kendrick.

Same for Rocky by the way. Before you start deflecting.

Sales are just a bad leading argument in this climate.

No but a lot of today's young folk bumping someone for a long time collectively will get the classic label later on....

Classics are decided down the line...

Mufckaz wasn't calling thriller a classic in the 80s its how it was perceived down the line that made it classic..drake's music will be the same
his music has a hold on this young generation that will undoubtedly bring classic status to his works down the line

Yeah
Kendrick? Kanye? Jay Electronica? Drake?

Whether or not they're successful in your opinion isn't really what I'm asking... But who is at least trying to make classic, timeless all-time great type music?
Kanye is the only one in my honest opinion. Along with him attempting to be innovative at the cost of his own popularity I think it shows in his work ethic.
