There are other reasons why the times have changed but now i'm thinking one reason is because times was more violent in the 90s crime wise and everything even if the economy was good. And all the classics being released in R&B came at the right time because people...men and women used it to escape from stress from the hard times. Yeah rap spoke about what was going on but when they didn't wanna think about that they had R&B.

The era was also more HOH and not putting hoes on pedestals. So they were feening for love/affection

Now in this era its rampant simping going on and the aggression of trap music makes these chicks feel good the most cause it reminds them of the male aggression they missing out on since alot of dudes are simping too much now and that is their way to escape.
