Whose career is honestly the most disappointing- CP3, D12 OR Melo?

No other greats besides Yao, but look at the rest of the magic. Jameer Nelson, a year of Courtney lee, Rasheed Lewis, Hedo, Alston, a past his peak VC, and JJ reddikk. None were bad players, but none of them played much defense or were good enough to be the second best player on a champion. With that context, Dwight had a really fantastic run in Orlando.

Paul has had rotten luck every year seemingly nonstop for a while now. 2013 Blake gets hurt with the clips up 2-0 and they lose to Memphis. 2014 they get hosed badly by the refs in game 5 in Oklahoma City (my opinion is that he league wanted them out of the playoffs so the sterling fiasco wasn't front and center), 2015 in drawing a blank on what happened besides josh smith and Corey brewer raining 3's to save the season, and then him and Blake got hurt in the playoffs last year.

Carmelo plays for the Knicks. LeBron wouldn't have much success with them either. The 2008-09 and 2012-13 teams he was on were the only ones with any real chance to do work in the playoffs in my opinion.

I'd probably say Anthony has had the most disappointing since he's missed the playoffs 4 years in a row.

no question that dwight defense was something else

he was just predictable on offense, especially when he faced them lakers they knew how to stop him. Even when he played celtics I remember watching games where kendrick perkins was doing pretty well defending dwight

and he played in the east, to make his career less disappointing they should have won some series in 2011 and 2012. Look they swept atlanta in 2010, next year dwight was legit mvp candidate and they lost to same hawks in 1st round

and then 2012 was a trainwreck him wanting to leave and getting injured right before the playoffs

That team totally fell apart in 2011. Game 1 Dwight had 46/19 with 6 of his rebounds being offensive and they lost by 10 because outside of him and Nelson the team shot 8 of 34 from the field. He had to play the entire 48 minutes in game 2. Not a single break all game. Against a forgettable hawks team they were held under 90 in 4 of 6 games. Their second leading scorer averaged 13.2 points and nobody shot even 43% from the field but Quentin Richardson, who only played 16 minutes per game and averaged under 4 points. A team reliant on the three shot just 26.2% from deep too :scust:. Maybe Dwight wasn't wrong for wanting out after all :ld:. It's not like they've even gotten close to the playoffs the last 5 years and I think they're on their third head coach since then.

:ohhh: Holy shyt! When I read the thread title I said D12 to myself then forgot he lead his team to the Finals and his early Magic days. BUT I think CP3 is the answer.

I'm a certified CP0 and Dwight hater but I think Melo's ceiling was higher. Like brehs said it was supposed to be Bron vs Melo over these years, what's really frustating is that we've seen glimpses that he can do almost everything at an elite level (not Bron-level or better though, except shooting) but...and while it's true he hasn't been surrounded by the best talent, it's also true he chose m ydysfonctional Knicks (:mjcry:)

That being said, Dwight has had good talent around him damn near all of his career and we all know the center position really wasn't all that most of of it.

CP0, yeah maybe he came through before the league moved to a more PG-orientated league, but out of those three I think he had the most talent around him.

My answer is Melo, dude has had opportunities to go to a contender but he was content with the money:yeshrug:

Dwight Howard had a good first half of his career, but the back injury really ruined him, so at least he has an excuse.
Chris Paul, despite his playoff success has had good regular season success and has been a good player, but I do think he gets no hate from Media like other guys do for no post seasons success.

BACK INJURY ENDED D12s PRIME PREMATURELY.

CP3 AND MELO ARE JUST LOSERS.

No ..The center position getting better ended his career. Also he didn't have shooters galore to bail him out.

CP3 is a 6' foot PG you couldn't have expected him to dominate.

Only D12 & Melo were expected to dominate.

:aicmon:HE WAS NEVER THE SAME AFTER THE BACK SURGERY...

DID HE LOOK LIKE D12 WHEN HE GOT TO THE LAKERS?

HE WAS NEVER EVEN THE SAME DEFENSIVELY.
