She picked it up off the streets after a rainstorm? :picard: She better be looking at that couch daily to see what’s up. You clean it and think it’s clean, but then you’re surprised by the critter coalition.

That couch was a good find. Given the amount of time it took to clean and dry, she would have known if it was infested before putting it in her apartment. That said, Roaches and Bed bugs in furniture is a real threat. Hell, I'm cautious when bringing luggage back into my house after a trip to some place tropical. I'm sure there are areas in NYC, like in Boston, where you have tons of transient rich folks who move in and out frequently. Its not uncommon for expensive stuff to get thrown out/ left behind after a move. Not to go into story mode, but I've known and met a few landlords in Boston, who rent to students, and I've heard the stories and actually seen some stuff left by wealthy tenants.

Now had she run an ultraviolet light over that sofa, I bet she would have hesitated to rehab it.
