people would support them.. but they wouldn't actually win.



Now if something really bad like WW3 or total economic collapse were to happen... Then you would get a shytload of people that would fight. The country would break apart.

More polarized than what? The 90s? The 80s? The 70s? The 60s? Mid to early 20th century? The 19th century? Pre civil war? Perhaps the Continental Congress?

The civil war killed over half a million Americans. Are you seriously suggesting that militias in Pennsylvania will leave their homes to fight militias from Georgia in 2017/18?

There are some parts of this article that I disagree with:

What's going on today is NOT left-wing militancy, and embracing it as such severely undermines the message of organizations such as the Black Panthers and organizations today continuing the fight for judicial and economic equality.

If the lesson of the Reagan era had been that Democrats should give a Republican president his due, the lesson of the Bush era was that doing so brought disaster. In the Senate, Bush’s 2001 tax cut passed with 12 Democratic votes; the Iraq War was authorized with 29. By the time Barack Obama defeated Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008, in part because of her support for the Iraq War, the mood inside the party had fundamentally changed. Whereas the party’s most respected thinkers had once urged Democrats to critique liberal orthodoxy, they now criticized Democrats for not defending that orthodoxy fiercely enough. The presidency of George W. Bush had made Democrats unapologetically liberal, and the presidency of Barack Obama was the most tangible result.

The idea that "America is Moving Left" gives the false impression that there were not/are not large populations in America aligned with the current platform. In my opinion, these paragraphs show the deliberate omission of black politics on the national stage - outside of calls to end racial inequality and police brutality.

Reagan - we were against that.
Vietnam - we were against that.
Lowering tax rates - we were against that.
Iraq war - we were against that.
School to prison pipeline - we were against that.
Drug war - we were against that.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere - we fought for that.

This article should be called "Why White America is finally catching up."
