I had a friend who used to talk about people who lighten their skin a lot and a few years later she told me she wanted to. I think what a person talks about says a lot about them and what they're battling with on a personal level.

So you think I'm harboring a latent desire to be a believer and my criticism of religion is a reflection of that?

Just an observation regarding the connection between failed mortal fathers and a disconnect from the Almighty Father of all things. Resentment toward your biological father can cause rifts between you and your Almighty father friend. You just dont get down with the daddy wave. God has mercy on the fatherless though so lets believe in God so we can get as much of his mercy as possible.

I'm very interested in religion but that's not indicative of a desire to adhere to one. Religion played a huge role in my formative years.

And when it comes down to it, there either is a god or there isn't one. We can agree to disagree all we want, but that doesn't change the facts. And all I see from you and people like you is blind faith in mythology because you were taught it and/or it makes you feel better.
