I feel like this whole support black businesses movement has a hint of paternalism. We all know by now that the new racism is that of low expectations so this whole treating black entrepreneurs like charity cases is kinda rubbing me the wrong way. What do you guys think?

Black businesses get stigmatized within the community and out. I don't think you should let it get to you because it's just people who are aware of the stigma and discrimination trying to make things better. Some problems need more attention.
No it’s paternalism and bigotry. There is no such thing as a “black business” it’s just a business. Most black business owners I know never refer to themselves as a black business. Black businesses are stigmatized because the people that use that label are usually using it to market an inferior product or service in order to guilt trip the consumer. Just like people say veteran owned to market something inferior.

I get what op is saying in that the term "black business" is limiting. Cause unless you're only catering to us, then using that will scare off others thinking the business is only for us.

But at the same time businesses that have known black owners do have a stigma against them in the sense that they all get lumped in as bad if someone negative experience with one, while other businesses either get to be individual or we ignore bad shyt they do to us.

Not always, some people actually take pride in their business being for us by us. Now whether or not the product is "inferior" that's up to the consumer. Can't nobody force you to pay for what you don't want to

Doubt it. If a white person walk into a black owned convenience store or wants to make a sizeable investment in their infrastructure how many people would turn those down. There is no such think as a business that is for black people. It’s a term that is used to virtue signal because the only thing that differentiates the product is that it’s black owned. No black capitalist with a truly unique product would use that fact that it’s black owned as the USP. Instead it would highlight the features that Would make black consumers gravitate toward it. The reason people have a stigma against black owned businesses is because most of the people using the term have nothing to offer the marketplace other than the fact that it’s black owned.

Wait, what?

You might have self esteem issues. I thought that this was a good faith discussion about a legit topic.

It's to support the idea of circulating our money among one another since we need the most help financially in America. It's an attempt to insulate our finances when we aren't united.
so you have to advertise as black owned in order to get the dollars to circulate? The dollars don’t circulate long in the community because there are less black businesses to choose from since the country is 60% white. If we lived in a country that was 90% black the dollar would circulate for a greater amount of time. Other ethnicities also have foreign investors which keep the dollar circulating artificially. You really think shouting support black businesses will keep the dollar circulating rather than making sure that we have successful businesses first then piggybacking off that success in order to open up more locations. Symbolic Victories are not what we should be striving for.
