Why Is This?

Why are Black men expected to go out of their way keep their hair super short (to the point where it doesn't curl)? I've never understood why 90 something percent of Black men wear their hair at the exact same length like clones. White men with shaved heads are in the minority, when Black men wear their at the same length as the typical White guy, it's "long" and it's an "afro" (not counting those Blacks with straight or wavy hair). I could ask why Black women are expected to straighten their hair as well but that's a song that's played all the time. So, why is this, and why are Blacks so obsessed with policing other Blacks into maintaining conformity? It's expected of Whites and other non-Blacks to find tightly curled hair to be unattractive, and most do, but why do Blacks, and even if they do, which is their right and preference, why do they care whether or not other Black people wear their hair 'naturally'? These same people then go on about how 'proud' to be Black they are even though they dislike the natural hair texture of most Black people.

found this on a website what do you guys think about this statement? I've noticed this myself growing up, my parents always wanted to keep my hair short and there excuse is that i look better. Growing up it has always been my thing to cut my hair and keep it short. when i begin to get knowledge of self and understand how the world words to a degree, i come to love growing my hair out within reason of course.

I think there is a meta-physical benefit to having curly hair. I don't know the why that is, but my intuition tells me that its true. What i do know if that having melanin gives us an advantage over those that don't have melanin so any activity that goes against what our melanin produces is typically suggested/promoted by those who don't have melanin.

So because they can't grow curly hair and reap any benefits (if any) from having curly hair, they will encourage blacks to cut their hair.

But...fuuck how they feel. Provide for yourself and do what you want to do.

Growing out tight curly/coily hair requires a lot of maintenance if you want to look good. It's very easy to look raggedy with a fro

Short hair requires very little maintenance, just go to a barber and get shape ups/hair cuts frequently

Cacs can grow their hair and not have to worry about it knotting up if they don't comb it. Or tying up their hair before they sleep

Long hair on men is looked down on. Men of other races have different type of hair than us so their short is not the same as ours.

Not in 2016 breh. :francis:

You must not see this hipster cacs with ponytails and beards getting 6 figure IT jobs.

I keep my hair long af and my beard even longer. As long as Lance gets to look like he's fresh from a cave, nobody can tell me shyt about my look. :myman:

Your dreams
i agree. Deny all you like or call the question stupid but its true.
people have been conditioned that the further away from blackness you get the better.

There is nothing wrong with our coily hair at any length. if there was we wouldn't have been created with these beautiful coils.

Some people conform to how whites think black men should look and want to stay in a box to please non blacks (white people especially). A lot of people are quick to call black men that grow their hair out unclean and make ignorant statements but don't do the same for non black men. It's seen as cool and nice looking when non black men do it. Of course there's a limit with how long non black men can grow their hair but they clearly have more room to grow their hair when compared to black men.

Other reasons could be people having a preference for the short hair look and other people just follow trends. Dudes that were worried about keeping their hair short now may switch up and want to grow their hair long since it's more common in 2016 compared to years ago.
