Why are Black people so concerned with celebrity relationships?

I guess you haven't been paying attention to the last 20+ years of white people obsessing over Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, Justin Bieber and Hailey, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Kardashians, etc.

I'm so tired of this nonstop attempts to turn behaviors everyone participates in into black pathology, as a means of shytting on black people or suggesting we're focused on the wrong things while everyone else is doing xyz. Celebrity/paparrazzi culture is driven by celebrity couples. Just waiting in line at the supermarket and seeing the tabloid covers over the last decade would tell you white people love this shyt as much as black people and every other race.
While this may be true, I say the obsession with celebrity culture in general is a detriment to society.

I won't fight you on that, and hell I largely agree. As long as we agree that everyone - black, white, etc - is heavily invested in this shyt. I remember someone arguing that the quarantine, pandemic, and initial economic downturn would kill celebrity culture since we'd finally realize what's important. Clearly that didn't happen lmao. That Johnny Depp trial got more cover than some of these major shootings that have happened.

And compare them to regular people?
It's so embarassing

This is the dumbest fukking thread on the coli this year. You deserve that username.

Do you know how many cacs kept up with Princess Diana? Do you realize how many people (not just black) keep up with TMZ?

Do you honestly think black people are the only ones who track celebrities?

White people do it too BUT i get the impression (and i could be wrong) that black males are more into celebrity gossip than males from other races.

I don't have a definite answer but if i had to guess, i would say some of it is rap music which talks a lot about the news (which a big portion has become celebrity centric).

Hard truth: They were raised by single mothers and around women so they take on female tendencies, even if they aren't necessarily "soft" or gay.

Ok
I disagree

Black ppl definitely do it more and do it worse

Saying "they have tabloids!" is a shytty false equivalency

Russ and Ciara isn't even that controversial
They been together for years at this point
But we still pumping it for content
It's dysfunctional as hell

Give it up, breh. It's over. You lost.
