VW group cars are garbage, i'd never tell anyone to cop an Audi
Which mode did you have?I had 85k on mine. 60k mostly hwy miles. Warnings started right around 78k
All cars being durable depends on how well you take care of it.
I know people who got bmws and sht never breaks down. Its just that maintenance is costly.
I agree but bmw/mercedes benz man their cars are always on these used car lots for dirt cheap because once they break parts expensive asf and constant issues... its a headache with both companies...![]()
Agreed. A lot of people can afford BMW/Benz car payments but they can't afford the total cost of ownership. That's the part that people don't realize when the salesmen are playing 4-Square with them at the dealership.
People with real money don't mind because they can afford to get their German rides serviced regularly and understand the tech under the hood is "high maintenance." Lexus is the practical ride where you get a taste of luxury and a taste of reliability. The extra "oomph" on Benz/BMW is not worth it unless you have real money to drop on a dime.
Why are BMW more then Audis? Simple, to create scarcity so only a certain type of person drives it.
The older I get the more I realize how stupid "luxury cars are for the average person" and I've owned luxury cars. If your complaining about liability or cost of repairs for a car, then you cant afford the car.
The best car is a car you can afford and can keep up with the repairs, all cars have almost the same reliability (within reason). If you routinely have A BMW checked it will last for ever same goes for a toyota, only difference is a toyota maintenance is a third of the price of a BMW maintenance.
Everytime I see a BMW on the side of the road or in the back of a toe truck, most people will think, oh those are unreliable cars, but really its the drive who cant make reliable maintenance checks, cause he cant afford to.
As a BMW fan first, I gotta say the Audi RS3 is a incredible car
Ive had an M3, an M5, a 550 and an M6. The only issues I had with any was transmission shyt with the SMG on the M3, a battery/alternator issue with the 550 and a replaced windshield wiper pump on the M5. My girl had an 440X that had an issue but that ended up being rats that chewed on the wiring. Warranty work. The only people I personally know that had BMW issues weren't the original owners of the cars. This is false, especially with BMW. They have several engines that would self destruct. N63, N63TU, and the S85
The people you know with BMW probably have the base models and not the performance versions
The Lexus I bought used was a fleet vehicle. I now have it registered under my LLC; a tax write off but not one that I have to worry about breaking down. BMW and Mercedes are just unreliable money pits. Porsche are more expensive and better looking/performing yet highly reliable the same as Toyota/lexus .I can’t believe it’s 2022 and people don’t know that luxury vehicles aren’t for regular citizens. They are used for tax write offs for huge corporations. Mercedes and BMWs are acclaimed because of their fleet program. That’s where they make their money.
Ok these companies have hundreds of millions of dollars. They not worried about repairs that cost thousands of dollars. I know it’s hard for people to say they can’t afford something but these cars weren’t made for people like you. It’s like comparing the Cheesecake Factory to Peter Luger. Ones a nice experience for the common man the other is for people with more money than they can spend. The Lexus I bought used was a fleet vehicle.
