I remember once after 2 interviews, they said they wanted me to come in and conduct a mock presentation based on stuff that would be apart of the potential job.

I asked the recruiter if I would be paid for it and she said no that it was part of the interview process. I told her immediately to withdraw my application. She was confused.

Wanted me to create a whole fukking presentation, for free, for a potential job :gucci:

These companies are getting bold.

Never thought of it that way before :ohhh:
You know how hard it is to set up meetings when there are multiple interview rounds? To me no company will go to the trouble of doing that unless you the hiring managers top candidate...so its stick up time:mjgrin:

ill even make them sweat a little bit after the 3rd and not answer their email for 1-2 days. Then the hiring manager follows up like clockwork:heh:

That was dumb on your part. It was your turn to showcase what you'd bring that no other candidate can. And again, ask for more money :dead:

Line up interviews with places you don't care about and practice.

Yes, waste their time.
I schedule BS jobs when I haven't interviewed in awhile, just to get the jitters out :russ:

That is mentioned in the video, more interviews keep you psychologically invested in the process.

My current job I only did one interview and negotiated 5k more.

That will be rectified this year :mjpls:
Good idea.

My company does two rounds of interviews. The first one is a general competency interview where we ask a mix of open questions to assess your professionalism (and see if people snitch on themselves or say something outright stupid) and technical questions to confirm the applicant has experience and availability needed for the role. A company recruiter will do the first interview alone.

The second interview conducted by the eventual hiring manager and at least one other member of staff consists of a work sample and some more directed technical questions. Afterwards they discuss the applicant. As a policy we like for them to do a few of these interviews to give them a general idea of what a good/bad fit for the role will be and gauge skill level of the applicant pool before making a decision.

The biggest red flags during either round is people snitching on themselves by admitting they exaggerated on their resume regarding the scale of their experience and if the person asks about another job/role besides the one they are interviewing for. The next one is if the person admits they have another job/commitment that will overlap with the job and start trying to negotiate with us to work with their schedule. Finally if the the person just comes off as unprofessional or unprepared for the work sample asked.

I always recommend if they send you a work sample take the maximum time allotted and go and ask others about what they think is being asked for in the prompt. A lot of people submit presentations when a spreadsheet/word doc would suffice, or ignore a specific prompt on the work sample. If it’s a tough decision between you and somebody else, that will likely lead to the company going with another applicant.

I couldn’t imagine doing more than two interviews.

I did one and that was it. I work for state government though and the multiple interview process isn’t really a thing.

I’m used to it have been doing lots of rounds since I was in school. Current job had 4 rounds with 7 people but they were scheduled in the same week.

I hate when a company doesn’t truly know what they want or aren’t aligned (the team) or they’re not serious about hiring.

Came across this recently.

- Talk with the recruiter for about 20 minutes
- Met with the Director of engineering for about 10 minutes

Now they scheduled me for 3 rounds of interviews....lol
