Why are "CONSCIOUS" black men so difficult to be around/be friends with?

Many brilliant people have few friends (unless their billiance is centred around social skill). They instead etnd to expend most of their energies into their ideas. I'm not saying every intellectual-leaning person is brilliant or even smarter than average, but most people who have an obsession with intellectual endeavors tend to be smarter than average, if only because it takes extra horse power to stomach processing and analyzing dense, confounding and deep material. The zeal and intensity which intellectuals--including many conscious black men--often display is disconcerting to the average person, who is more accustomed to more monotone subjects and scrutiny. This seems to be the case with conscous black men at times. But it's similarly the case with great minds like Oppenheimer, Watson, Beethoven, etc/

I hope you were not referring to james watson. that guy's a racist tool, and he stole data from rosalind franklin.

I try to keep things light hearted and save the serious discussions for college but some really don't know how to filter themselves. They will bring up serious shyt at the most random times when everyone is in a good mood and kill the vibe with their negativity.
:mjlol:

They are always the dude at a house party talking about advanced social theory when they need to be philosophizing about how to get their dikk wet with all of the horny drunk girls. It's not just conscious brothas but serious white dudes as well.

Complete buzzkills when they could use all of that energy and intelligence to holler at girls and get laid.:ehh:

I used to be like this, but now i'm more mellow. of course its complex, but I believe this behavior is rooted in having a low self esteem, hence why some overcompensate. i think instead of lambasting these people, it would be better if we explored both sides of the issue.

I’ve been saying ACTUALLY conscious people because I believe there are a number of people who believe themselves to be conscious, awake or enlightened that really are not. They are caught in delusion. Some people believe they are conscious because they’ve read some books and browsed the internet; Or they believe they are conscious because they deep down don’t like the idea of being seen as “dumb” “stupid” or “not smart” so they listen to some lecture or watch a Hidden Colors type of film and mentally convince themselves that they are “enlightened” thus clinging to the thought “I am Conscious.” But to merely cling to the thought “I am conscious” is not to be conscious obviously. Also to just accumulate information is not either.

so what is conscious then?

i love threads like these. everybody bursts out and starts to lament, oh so and so is a pain the ass, I totally see what you're saying, let's tar and feather these conscious mofos, etc., and yet all y'all act the same to varying degrees. while i'm not an 'extreme' militant anymore and even frown upon their myopic practices and views i still believe that these people are useful in our society. it freaks me out how Malcolm-x- never wavered, never backed down, never took a step back back when he first became a minister for NOI. this was during the 60s, Jim Crow, rampant discrimination, no strong black power movement ... etc. I could never have been a Malcolm-X- because my personality is such that I have a tendency to vacillate. Anytime I'm exposed to two opposing issues, I always sit on the fence. I'm not one to take one viewpoint and ride with it for eternity completely ignoring any evidence that may indicate that my beliefs are built on a foundation that is probably made out of sand.

that's why it sometimes upsets me how there's really no balance of views in this forum. a lot of you are stuck in this rut of perpetual whining and complaints. i seem to be stomaching it quite well, but i anticipate that i won't be posting much here in a couple of months. it was fun while it lasted, but life is just to complicated to explain with such evidently biased and narrow views.

I couldn't think of another dude like him when I was listing them. But yeah, dude is a racist; he's not actually very smart and he stole data from rosalind franklin.

Its all about knowing when to turn it on and off. Lot of people in general have problems reading social cues and living in the moment. U out at the club or something, nobody wants to hear about systematic racism

the path to DNA's discovery was paved with deceit, betrayal and a whole lot of other vices. you should read watson's biography. while i don't dispute watson's genius, i think people should know that he borrowed his ideas from a lot of people (i.e. rosalind franklin). rosalind franklin is low-key one of the GOAT female scientists. doesn't get even half the credit she deserves.

There's a difference between been conscious and being a super militant.

There's extremists on every side. I try to stay away from them all :manny:
Yes this is it....

But I don't stay away from any of them..
. I even tolerate the conspiracies and smartdumb shyt and even converse with them... because you never know.... You might actually learn something or you might say something that would cause them to think' and then research and become conscious instead of extremely conspiratorial .

Plus how can I hate on an Afrocentric extremist, or religious extremist, or conspiracy nikka, or whatever when I'm an extremist myself.

I'm pro black and militant and I realize that not everyone would agree with my views, but as long as someone isn't a c00n or actively trying to harm my people then I'm like whatever about it.

There are also those that are extremely liberal multicultural and passive amongst us.
To me that's extreme.. .to allow damaging agendas to enter your community and also to not see how certain institutions and systems of supremacy can affect us .

What about the Church community ?--
- For the most part the worst areas of our hoods have 75 Churches on each street... Those subdoing messages and false images (without empowerment) are damaging, IMO

Also, what the fukk is the point of being and saying that you are conscious if you aren't doing shyt...... and will die having not even trying to do shyt (other than ask questions like Why are conscious black men so difficult to be around be friends with. ).

nah, man those cats spend a lot of time thinking about how bad things are. The underthought of it all is how, despite how much they despise "The System" and every part of it.......

they don't fit into it.

And it hurts. Lots of self inflicted loneliness. Lots of times wishing they can find a peer somewhere besides the internet. Lots of days spent being angry at cats that's enjoying themselves by doing the "wrong" thing. Lots of chicks they look at and convince themselves that said chicks are beneath them but they don't want to be jacking off tonight to the thought of Trudy on Twitter. Mad at some female rapper, but... just staring at her on the screen and being mad.

But because they feel so much "better" and "enlightened" than others, they try to convince themselves that they don't feel a thing.

And because they shun society, they're maladjusted to it.

All that anger and awkwardness is what jumps out of that Black Jedi visage when you say something as simple as

":ohhh: Damn, breh! Girl looking right in them pants, right!?"

you get a tirade about how you're not part of the solution.

":russ: damn, breh! you see the game!?"

You get a tirade about the advertisements.

":sadcam: damn, breh rough day in the salt mines"

You get a tirade about the white man.

:upsetfavre: don't nobody wanna be around that shyt all the time.

How you gonna change the world when you're too scared and angry to function in it? :mjlol:

so what is conscious then?

The great educator Mortimer J. Adler said this: “To be informed is to know that something is simply the case. To be enlightened is to [actually] know, in addition, what it is ALL ABOUT: why it is the case, what its connections are with other facts, in what respects it is the same, in what respects it is different and so forth.”
Though this definition can be expounded on to be more depth and precise. I think it works for the point being made.
..........or not. The question, What does it mean to be conscious? Is a question worth exploring imo :sas2:

This is an easy problem to solve buddy. Since it's not for you just don't associate yourself with people who don't like to "Turn-up", lust for Pawgs or casually trade tales about the wonders of licking thot booty crack. :jawalrus:

If you know who you are & what you want out of life it's easy to not deal with certain sh#t.
Now, for me I'll ALWAYS HAVE MY FIST TO THE SKY!!

... Well Until I log off of course. :steviej:

Lets face it, no matter what the subject is, if someone is one track, whether it is some geek shyt or when they advocate for something all the time, its gonna get boring if thats alll they got to talk about.
Couple that with making you feel like an a$$hole for thinking about challenging their viewpoints n you have yourself a person you can only take in small doses, whether it's a bible thumper, a CTer, or an overzealous militant.
