Yup. There was a time when a wife was considered the mans property. Society has changed and as a result so has marriage. And it’s also why in less progressive cultures arranged marriages are still a thing. Neither one is good or bad imo. It’s just that in America the rules have changed. Personally I’m not opposed to getting remarried but I also know that I can’t go into it with the same mindset I had in my first when I thought that love was the most important thing. Also when it comes to marriage these days people gotta throw expectations out the window which many can’t do and they end up divorcedfacts. the thread title should be "Why don't women lower their standards". You telling me some of these MGTOW guys in their 20s and 30s who havent had sex in years wouldn't wife a bytch up ASAP? Men will do whatever it takes to get puzzy.
back in the day, women didnt have their own money and were shamed by family and society for not having a husband, being a single mother, being a hoe, etc. They were practically socially forced into marriage
in 2018, none of those things are a stigma anymore.

If you split up instead of stay together, and no children are involved, lord bless! You're not wasting your time and heart-ache.
If you have children, then you do indeed have that lifelong commitment that even state-sponsored marriage can't guarantee. Having kids is REAL commitment -- REAL marriage -- TRULY "until death do you part" instead of just words. Let's base our commitments on REAL stuff like that, rather than "white gowns" (who's the virgin?), diamonds (a goddamn marketing scam), and vows you KNOW you will break when you tire of one another.
You CAN'T break your commitment to your children (unlike divorce, there's actual social stigma attached to that) and there is NO ESCAPING the bureau of child support. That's REAL commitment, and we should start basing our "marriages" on stuff like that.
I didn't say give up weddings (or commitment parties or commitment ceremonies) if that's what you're into. I didn't say give up commitment. I said use the anti-marriage trend as an opportunity to SAVE MONEY and SAVE SILLINESS by keeping the state (and the church if you're not truly feeling the church) OUT of it. Use the anti-marriage trend in our culture to establish genuine working traditions with real taboos, instead of shyt that just enriches gown sellers, diamond merchants, the church, the state, etc.
Don't let some female drag you down stupid lane if you KNOW it's stupid. We black men need to assert our will over the direction of our culture. If you leave it up to women, you'll get exactly what you're getting.
They love marriage, but they love "scandal" too. You should be saying FOOH with that, and encouraging true men to manage relations on smarter terms.

Because both men and women have issues with being selfish, and we don’t know how to properly choose our partners. We all have issues with admitting that, but I’d say it’s very hard for us men to acknowledge we suck at choosing.
Not knowing how to properly choose your spouse is also due to us being selfish.
I’m for marriage; always have and always will be. You choose the right partner, and the benefits far outweigh the negatives. There’s is nothing stronger than a united black family; husband, wife, and kids.

i came from a home with a mom and dad who been married for 46 years now....through good and bad them two have genuine love for one another and I always wanted that for myself too..
just fortunate after my hoe days I found the right chick to settle with....

1. Reread what I wrote. Is there anything in there that justifies your personal attack? You're just emotional because my ideas threaten your "sacred cow" -- state-sponsored church marriage, and the "validation" that comes with it. I hit a nerve and I'm glad my ideas scare you. Brothers -- that fear is a good sign.
Don't let her drag you down to her "guarantor", her "leverage" -- "the white man" -- to "validate" your love on some idiotic timetable.
The same bureau that "sanctifies" your state-sponsored marriage will rubber stamp your divorce if you come back one month later complaining that her breath stinks in the morning ...So why go to the state in the first place -- when we can use this anti-marriage trend in our culture to kill state-sponsored marriage FOR GOOD, and replace it with commitment in which the woman actually BELIEVES IN YOU, rather than just her "guarantor"?

If we insist on this kind of thinking in our culture, maybe women will begin to choose the men they fukk more wisely, so that YOU don't end up a target of her genocidal tendencies because of something Dirty dikk Rodney inevitably does to her. However, if we keep indulging them -- especially with shyt like church marriage (even though we KNOW the church is ratchet)... diamonds (even though we KNOW they're a scam)... and state-sponsored marriage (even though we KNOW it's a TRAP), things are NEVER going to get better for our culture.
2. "Ladies, please avoid these types of men at all costs"? Trust me, they won't. I'm tall, well-spoken, athletic, good looking and professional. If push comes to shove, I could just LIE to them, tapping into that "cinderella complex" to get way up in that ass -- but I don't even have to do that. Some women are actually attracted to and respect men of ideas, instead of those who just go along with the dusty ol' program (which, of course, has been working so well for the black community).
3. My black brothers -- I know I don't have to tell you this but -- please avoid these types of WOMEN at all costs. She gets emotional and throws a personal attack because I posted ideas she disagrees with, instead of simply explaining the basis of her disagreement... Yes indeed -- please avoid this type of woman at all costs. Her ways won't work well in a relationship. Everyone but her knows this to be true.
