you're. Hair is too black.
you can't show that you care about your people in the workplace because it shows you are a field slave and not a house negro that's gone kiss ass.

This is what im rocking with now and people tell me one day ill "grow up":what: and get a brush cut. Mind you i had waves for about 4 years so i got tired of it. Im a little over 5 months of growth right now.

Why are people trying to convince me that natural hairstyles are unprofessional? It's fukked up because i have a pretty big interview in January for an internship and ill probably wear it curly to look more conservative.

It's cacery breh. Everything that makes us US terrifies some people. Just one more reason we need to start more businesses so we can work for ourselves.

:whoo: You look good and you're hair is fine

You said you'd be faithful :damn:

Mentally not physically

the current reprogramming of our minds and leeching off your bodies is only a lighter version of our past afflictions. Even in Egypt, the orders were sent to drastically increase the levels of physical slavery on our people. And even in this new Egypt, we aren't too faraway from not only returning to but exceeding the previous levels of physical and mental torment we incurred upon our arrival.

I don't think it's unprofessional at all. Honestly, when you first go there I would just pick it out and keep your line fresh then just go back to how you wear it in a month or two. I'm not just saying that either because I have natural hair...

Some people's natural hair does look unkempt. :manny:

Just because you're natural doesn't mean you don't have to do your hair. I'm natural and I have worn my afro to professional places and not received any backlash, it's just all about the presentation. Unfortunately you just have to play the game sometimes, so if you gauge the environment and decide it's beneficial to cut it, 'tis life.

fukk it breh. Your hair is your hair. I work at a VERY large well known corporation here in NY and openly rock my fro. And it's not some. Little baby fro, it's out there and recognizable. There might be a day or two here and there where I'll wear a hat just for some type of different look but 98% of the time the hair is out.

I got to a point where I wanted to grow natural hair and I encourge my brothas and siestas to go natural too. I'm sure there are people in the office (CACs) who don't "get it" but they don't determine my standing in the company and my role is important coupled with the fact that I have skills damn near everyone there doesn't have.

I try to keep my look official and not on some "conforming" shyt. I'm at work to work and having short or long hair doesn't affect my performance.

You and I will agree to disagree once again. I will agree that finding your passion in work along with working for yourself is important. Getting paid decently to do it is even better.
in hindsight.. i agree with your other point about generalizations.

about this..

why can't u do both? i might be the laziest nikka on Earth and i take care of 3 households.. doing something i think is cool.

and most black men have more potential and skill than I - so more should be independent ... or at least chose a career over a job.

You all obsess way too much over what you're scared white people might think.

I'm a Network Admin and I rock long (and sometimes not all that neat) dreads and have since before I worked where I do, and it's never been an issue. To be honest it's sort of a litmus test to see if want to work somewhere...if somebody wouldn't hire me for not being sufficiently conservative-looking or clean shaven then I doubt it's someplace I'd want to work anyway. But that's just me...

I have a different perspective because I get paid what I consider is a decent salary and I wouldn't be able to just jump from corporate to my own without taking a considerable hit financially and right now I can't do that. I do have financial goals and an exit plan out of corporate america so I'm not tripping.

But I do agree that if your job is bullshyt, you're not even making good money then you might as well find your own way and enjoy doing it.
