Why are posters with neg rep not banned?

neg rep is not an indication of no contribution.... Sometimes people don't agree with what that poster has said... and sometimes it's a personal vendetta that an online gang has settled...

And because of this reason I don't think folks should be banned...

Nah, I completely disagree with this. Not that people aren't trolling when they're in the red, because some are. But there are some really courageous people who are in the red that consistently speak up as the minority voice on issues here. Their contributions are valuable, if not for reflection, for playing devil's advocate, which is important. I also think people get negged for petty shyt, or for just having an opposing viewpoint. Banning them would discourage offering a different opinion and it would be bad for debate. Just the threat of a neg would drive people to dap everything or go into lurk mode.
