Basically it's just too many dj's, too much restrictions from labels so you may get sued, and lack of people who actually want to hear new music unless it's popular or reminds them of a popluar artist/song. This pertains to hip hop because a lot of electronic dj's are eating GOOD.
Making money off your mix is dead but, using it to get gigs isn't. What needs to be done is dj's need to make their own beats, to mix songs with so their mix will be special. They also need to do better mixing then just slamming the songs nyc style or letting the songs blend for a while the old school way. Djing the old ways are dead if you want to be the shyt, you need to bring your personal touch to the mix like edm dj's do but, with that amped hip hop feel. With the dj tech out there this isn't hard to do, the issue is the lack of creativity with dj's. Serato came out with the bridge to get this dj/production thing going and most don't even use it like they should or even use it. Dj's fell off in hip hop because they lack creativity.
