Why are wigs so damn popular now?

I remember when wearing a wig was embarrassing. Now chicks are taking pride in wearing these ridiculous wigs. When and how did this happen?

Wigs have just become a lot more realistic looking and they're more stable so to speak. I was smashing this girl earlier this year and pulling her hair hella hard, didn't budge one inch. Few hours later she just takes the shyt off her head and I'm like

A lot of chicks are natural now so they braid it up and put a wig either on top of it or stitched in there somehow so they don't have to deal with doing their hair on a daily basis.

They're also way easier to deal with than weave.

This is what I always assumed. It's like wearing a stylish hat. I'm thankful to be a man. Shave all my sh!t off and out the door. No brushing, no combing, no maintenance. I used to have waves like the ocean, and maintained it too, but I have no complaints since thinning and shaving it all off. I imagine for women who rock wigs it's a similar outlook. One less thing they have to fool with in the morning before getting ready to go somewhere.

I will say some of those wigs look ridiculous though. Like it's completely obvious with some Black women that they're wearing a helmet. Those bob wigs look like the old Nazi stormtrooper helmets.

It's more convenient, comfortable and easier to take care of and preserve the hair they buy.

It usually doesn't look as good as actual high quality sew-ins, but there are pretty good wigs, as long as they look realistic and don't look poofy.
