Honestly, many of y'all sound like the parents who argue that their child should get a trophy even though they lost the game.
It's not about supporting the 1%. It's just not a smart idea and in the end, these people are really only hurting themselves. They will be taxed more and once other entry level service workers start wanting it too and get it, the prices of shyt are going to go up as well. Stores like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are already hooking there employees up so their prices won't generally rise, but for stores like Kroger, Giant, etc. prices of food are gonna go up. Might be taking the bus now, but when entry level bus drivers want their raise too or when gas prices go up who's going to hurt? the white collar worker who has their transportation subsidized by their company or the McDonald's employee who gets nothing of the sort?
If McDonalds gave their employees the option of: (a) Getting paid $15/hr or (b) Staying at minimum wage and getting HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical training/etc. paid for by the companh how many would choose the former in your mind? Something tells me that people who beg for money would choose the former because instead of begging for something substantial, they are asking for the bottom line hand out. You're not asking for support in learning another skill that will diversify your hiring prospects... Just money. Now think about how retarded this is for people who claim that working at fast food places is shyt work.
The problem with American culture is that everyone deserves everything, which ain't true. It amazes me that illegal Mexican immigrants can come here and start full fledged landscaping businesses with no problem and we are telling other people to settle and beg for someone else to share their ends. shyt is really ridiculous and just shows our mentality. If you work at mcDonalds; you should have a roommate instead of thinking you deserve a 1 bedroom. Are McDonalds workers too good to have roommates? You shouldn't have kids. If your earning potential is low, why the fukk are you out here pumpin' out babies? You shouldn't be having them, point blank unless you're willing to sacrifice a lot of things.
I think that's the thing that annoys me the most about this. No one is begging to learn a skill that will help them get out of fast food (which they claim to be a shyt job) but rather money which honestly makes 0 sense if working in the fast food industry sucks. Instead of asking for skills training that will lead to the ability to earn your own money with your own business and in turn hire more people under them........... We support people begging for money in work fields they claim to hate.
Instead of encouraging people to learn different skill sets, we want to just throw what is still a low wage at them. As you all have stated, these CEO millionaires won't hurt from it so who's really sticking up for the 1%. The people who are still supporting grown adults doing so called slave labor for the rest of their life for a little more money or the people who want these people to go out and diversify their skill set which will lead to better and more possibilities in the future?
Matter of fact, many of these people will be fired and replaced with machines, or other people will just work longer hours as staff is cut, so who are you all really supporting? 17% is big increase in price for the average person who eats at McDonalds. Your dollar menu is basically gone, which is really the bulk of what people will eat. If McDonalds could raise prices with the belief that people would still bye, since they are such greedy people, why haven't they just raised the prices already for more profit? These nikkas gonna get fired, point blank and y'all are in here supporting the stupidity lol
