These people cannot survive on these full-time wages. Yes, they probably blew opportunities in their youth and made other bad life decisions - that's an easy argument to make.

The other alternative is to supplement the McDonald's wages with public assistance. You will hear arguments against this also though.

Should these people starve? Live in boxes? What about their kids?

Its a horrible predicament. I am not even sure how they are currently surviving.
I'm not the one to judge anyone on their previous life CHOICES. The same argument can be used for a college graduate who struggled to get their degree, who has kids also who are helping them. Some of us college graduates have bills and kids just like the Mcdonalds workers on top of that we have student loans.. You don't see us out here complaining if they going to give raises to them they need to give them across the board. Can you imagine a high school student making 30 grand a year? :comeon:

Good point.

The difference is that these individuals are actually speaking up, voicing their opinions to their employer, and making demands. Maybe other industries should make demands also.

Let them cook. Literally.

I say fukk them! Don't raise their pay. If they wanted a good paying job stay your ass in school, graduate high school and go to college. Working a fast food job is something that should only be done by high school students who want some pocket change during the summer. Not by fukking 30 year old losers. :pacspit: Btw, Mcdonald's customer service is terrible! Everytime, I'm at the drive thru and whenever I ask for some ketchup to be put in my bag those bytches always forget. It's like is your job that hard?

Have teachers not been asking for pay raises for.... forever? And still not getting such.

Welp if you have fast food employees making 30K, I'm sure you won't have to worry about that anymore..... because by then no one will want to be a damn teacher when they can get push a fry button instead and make the same amount :dahell:

America is turning into the movie "Idiocracy" right before our eyes. :blessed:

Give a 16 year old the opportunity to make +30K and see how long they want to finish high school/go to college. America will be a nation of dummies and the 1% will still be on top because we will be the biggest consumers who don't produce/create anything and who lack a want for education/innovation.

What kinda of national GDP do you expect us to have if we continue to glorify fast food jobs that require no education?

Anyway, you're average person who can take the 17% jump in price ain't eatin' McDonalds like that in the first place. McD's knows that. They just dropped that $5 burger they had because it wasn't selling. You're poorer, lower income people who have McDonalds in their neighborhoods will be the ones suffering and therefore not buying. If McDonalds knew they could raise the price by 17 cents on the dollar, they would have done so a while ago in the quest for more profits, not to help employees.

Complain about the hood being food deserts and raise the price of the source of food in the hood brehs :laff:

This shyt is never happening and many of these workers will feel pretty shytty when I order my 1 every 6 months Oreo McFlurry on an iPad. :mjpls:

$15 an hour? :what:

I'm making nearly $7.25 an hour working 60 hours a week at a small supermarket and my job is more physical and demanding than that of someone flipping burgers. I should be making nearly that. I'm ok with them getting a raise to $9 or $10 but $15... the fukk :mindblown:

Most of them are high school/college students and the rest are high school dropouts and idiots that fukked up while young.

They really ain't doin no real work, just a space filler. Hard labor should be making more than them

give them $15 bump everyone else up double and all prices will raise and shyt will be the same. :yeshrug: fukk paying a burger flipper $15 though i dont want my food to go up cause of that shyt. :bryan:

.68 cents ain't shyt. You pay for these people on the front end at the establishment or on the back end when your tax dollars go to their government aid. McDonald's should have to eat that not US tax payers.

Its so funny watching people be ultra capitalists until the wage earner begins to try exercise their right to do so. Then its "but do they really deserve to be making that type of money for what they do :mjpls:" How about let the market decide what they get? If they refuse to work and McDonald's can't find any other solution, they will get paid and deserve to be.

Weird that there is also all this talk about laziness and this GOP enforced rhetoric about returning to a "can do" American spirit. I guess a can do American spirit is taxpayers supplementing these people's livelihoods in taxes.

...bu bu but i got a college degree:sadcam:
can't have these low skilled workers get as much as me:sadbron:
:stopitslime:

What's wrong with that? If I can just get a job at MCdonalds for $15/hr then millions of people who spent time and money to seek an education just wasted time and money then right?

It's a lot of space between $7.50 and $15 an hour.

This thread is the apex of crabs in a barrell mentality

People see others trying to get better wages, and instead of thinking ":leon: maybe we should do something like that" they're ":pacspit: those fakkits better not make close to the money I'm makin in my super important desk jockey job"

Bruh. This is McDonalds we're talking about.

Na all I'm saying is if there's any group of people who need's raises its the city workers. You got teachers, firemen, policemen all underpaid. But you wanna pay Calvin at MCdonalds the same as them?:dahell:
Teachers, maybe, but in a lot of municipalities, police and firemen etc are PAID. Starting pay for police in SF is 90k, its 80k in Oakland. Gtfoh, that's overpaid

Be called smug for telling people to learn profitable non-populated trades so they can start their own businesses, generate their own revenue, and eventually hire their own employees instead of encouraging them beg a greedy CEO for more pay for a dead end jobs that are about to be replaced by computers even if they do get a pay raise brehs.
