Lets get some stuff out of the way 1st

  • The average minimum wage worker is 29 years old
  • The leading demographic employed in these jobs are single females
  • The less these multi billion dollar companies pay their employees the more you tax dollars go to subsidizing these families
Doubling McDonald's Salaries Would Cause Your Big Mac To Cost Just 68¢ More: Study

Doubling the salaries and benefits of all McDonald's employees -- from workers earning the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour to CEO Donald Thompson, whose 2012 compensation totaled $8.75 million -- would cause the price of a Big Mac to increase just 68 cents, from $3.99 to $4.67, University of Kansas research assistant Arnobio Morelix told HuffPost. In addition, every item on the Dollar Menu would go up by 17 cents.

Morelix looked at McDonald's 2012 annual report and discovered that only 17.1 percent of the fast-food giant's revenue goes toward salaries and benefits. In other words, for every dollar McDonald's earns, a little more than 17 cents goes toward the income and benefits of its more than 500,000 U.S. employees.

So what is the reasoning/logic behind the thinking that they don't deserve that much money

Why should they make more?

I mean we have to address the notion that just raising wages helps people.

Prices then go up and then poor people are assed out once again.

People are just more aware these days, it doesn't mean that inequality just goes away.

They make shytty money because those are low effort jobs.

since when is the world about what one deserves? if you dont like that wage ur gig is paying. get another one. and this applies to ALL workers. not just minimum wage.
why should I have to eat a 17% increase in dollar menu cost just cuz???? :why:
I mean if they wages are just gonna double off GP, why shouldn't mine? they don't work any harder than I do.

Keep it 100 people don't want what they view as a shytty unskilled job that any bum can do making something that's in the range of what they made straight out of school.

This idea that 15/hr is too much for a McDonald's employee is just a way to look down on someone

The prices are going to go up anyway.

How is what they do an "low effort job"

Fast food should not be a career choice job.

It's sh!t you do when you fall on hard times or when you are in HS.

Flipping a burger doesn't require any special skill-set

What does this have to do with my post?

I wouldn't say its low effort cuz you are actually working hard. but it's definitely low skilled since u dont need education, training, or experience to get said job.

They are getting paid below the poverty line. YOU are not.

Don't you have kids in school???

A bigger percentage of your tax dollars are going to subsidize the lives of MCD workers ( Medicaid, Section 8, Foodstamps) instead of going to things like education, roads, medical research.

Simply because these companies are not paying their employees enough to live off of. When they can and Should.

The prices are going to rise anyway. I rather the prices rise to increase the living standards of the poor then to rise to increase the portfolios of shareholders
