I hate that it's being discussed on the public internets. It would have been an extremely powerful movement if it was constructed in a vacuum. Use that internet that Garvey used. I got African friends, real good brothers. The last thing I was is division amongst my brothers. I don't know how long its going to take us to get reparations, but I do know that the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

As a registered Independent myself, I get not wanting to feel beholden to a party that you don't feel represents your interests. And I’m not here to convince you to vote Democrat or anything. But this doesn’t really answer the question:listen ill answer like this
for the last half century democrats would point to the republican and say

just like how democrats got a message from the midwest cacs they lost in 2016
If Trump is re-elected (and the Senate remains Republican), how does ADOS go about getting reparations from a party that’s not interested attracting the black vote, has no reason to support a pro-black political platform, and will be in a position to entrench their ideology on the Supreme Court for a generation? That’s what I’m asking. Because if this actually happens and the GOP wins, that’s the reality you’d be dealing with.
To be clear, this is not me trying to fear-monger here and convince anyone to vote Democrat. Whether or not you vote and who you vote for are your decisions. But I can’t understand how letting the GOP further entrench themselves helps ADOS and its case for reparations at all. It’s not only a setback now, it’s one that’ll very likely impact the future as well.
Because when it comes to SCOTUS, we’re not just talking about 4 more years of Trump. We’re talking about decades of judges that Trump will be able to appoint and whose ideologies will be a huge obstacle to the goals of ADOS in the future. The minute a case about reparations comes to a GOP-controlled Supreme Court, they will have the ability to rule the whole thing unconstitutional, regardless of whether or not the Democrats come out in support of reparations later down the line.
This isn’t really about the Democrats so much as it is a question of what the future goals and strategies of ADOS are. If ADOS is actually about getting reparations or pushing a pro-black agenda in national politics, and not just fukking the Democratic Party over if demands aren’t met, I’d expect for it to have some kind of plan for if the GOP wins.

I’m asking about what ADOS will do with the Republicans in power. How does the movement plan to make a push for reparations with a GOP-controlled White House, Senate, and Supreme Court?
