Some people had to grew into their looks or just didn't think they looked that good because of something that happened when they were younger.

People conflate being attractive with having a substantial amount of self worth which is intrinsic. Usually a person's issues stem from childhood. They in turn grow up with this skewed outlook.

First I'm technically not light skin, I'm light brown and second I have never had any special treatment in DC. Wayyy too many attractive women of all shades for anyone to be singled out.
To answer the topic there are so many other factors that contribute to self esteem aside from how you look.
