the only libertarians that care, and at this point, this is only theoretical, and that is the ideological part (ie reason), a small portion of the fringe conspiratorial types, and maybe some urban 2nd amendment advocates. everybody else essentially understands that they either are cacs or work for cacs. you cant cling hard to "states rights" and the right to discriminate in public without having lots of actual racists and unfortunate uncle ruckus types behind this ideology. not saying those values themselves are a sign that you are racist, but that those values do attract racists for obvious reasons. without it being said, everybody knew why this would not get much sympathy from libertarians in any notable way.
also, many on the libertarian spectrum are not pure in their principles. many actually like it when government and unions are used against people of color. even though cliven feels the feds have no authority over him, he did say that they should be on the border keeping mexicans out. lots of people want to have their cake and eat it too.
