I've learned recently that quite a few negus see jidenna the same way they see that brother from the Everest college commercials. They think he's condescending and they feel looked down upon in his presence.

I see nothing wrong with his fashion. He's half European and half African and he recognizes both parts of his heritage in the way he dresses and carries himself. People dont know what to make of people who fit outside of the archetypes they're familiar with and will often respond with apathy or with outright hostility.

You would be looked at crazy dressing like that in an office setting. And dudes who rock shyt like that on the regular because they don't have office jobs look like clowns imo. A lot of younger cats on the gram who on that colorful suit tip too flashy for me. But there a couple of Black bloggers who are on a more conservative/office appropriate style tip who are fly, and even some non-conservative Black bloggers showcase better taste than the Jidenna clown ish.

I do admire his style and it looks great on him but that color won't work on every skin tone and especially body size.

I learned this when I dropped a ton of weight and had to go clothes shopping again.

I paid an older female who worked in fashion and did quite a bit of personal shopping to help me choose colors for my skin tone and size.
Best advice and money I ever spent to up my fashion game.

I dress to look good and smell good for myself and I have never steered myself wrong.

He's been switching it up, looking at his Instagram. His look was more of a costume to stand out as an artist. I don't think anybody was really expecting that to start a trend with everyday people.
