I've destroyed the "buying power" arguments on here since I joined.

That buying power isn't liquid and is tied up into monthly bills that cannot be reallocated due to there being no Black alternative.

Black buying power per capita is abysmal when you consider groups like Asian Americans who make up a 1/4th the African American population have exponentially larger buying power.

That said, the core idea of circulating money within the community as best you can should always be promoted but it by itself will not lift us out of our condition.

I really feel like people forget that China and many other asian countries legitimately have diplomatic ties with their expat communities in ways blacks do not.

Anyone equating spending power to creating wealth is a moron. Anyways, good thread.
thats the fault of media and pundits who don't explain this distinction though.

Language matters and for far too long this simplistic argument and its interpretation is used as some sort of positive statistic, when its not.

The crazy thing is outside of these wealthy Africans. Africans don't either. There is no unity among Africans much less the rest of the diaspora. It's a game that pretty much is fukked. I got business partners in Africa. They want to do business with AAs. The issue is, they asking for a million just to sit at the table. That might work if you got it but how many of us have it

it's not a myth, it's just a stupid talking point in the grand scheme of things. That trillion dollars is pennies in all actuality. A trillion is a lot individualt or for small collective. But not when we talking millions of people.
It's 1/13 of the GDP. $1 trillion is not pennies in any context and is in fact a ton of money

I wasn't talking about "buying power" I was talking about the power of ownership. If you own a piece of the market, everyone comes to you for what they need. Like Apple has the market for tablet computer. Dumb asses.
