That's why Pilate ordered a titulus to be placed on the cross reading "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews". Crucifixion was a Roman practice(NOT a Jewish one) and abhorrent under Jewish law (Psalm 22). The mistaken idea that the Jews killed Jesus led to centuries of persecution. Hell Jews themselves were being nailed to a crucifix daily by the Romans.

I have no problem giving money to a church I believe is doing the right thing with it. I always like to look at what churches are doing with their money. Did they create a school, or rec centers? Are they investing back into the surrounding community. Are they helping their members get jobs, giving scholarships, job training. Yes it's important to give the word, but even Jesus followed his messages with action. Just don't take for the sake of the pastor and his first lady being decked in in designer ever Sunday while 70% of your congregation is one missed pay check away from the poor house. If I see you giving back to the people that in all honesty can't afford to give to, then you have my attention.

I'm fairly sure girls are pushed harder by parents and family members as well as church members to keep going. I'm still forced to go (mostly because I'm 18, still live at home, and don't need to be disowned while my conservative Christian parents are helping me out with tuition), but I can see how girls are pushed more than guys, and there are more women in the church by default, so a greater proportion still end up going.
One of the smartest little kids I know is this little girl who's the grandaughter of the ex-Pastor. She's going to probably end up fukked up as an adult to church
But automatically being distrustful of the male leaders is one of the main reasons, perhaps a natural stubborness, or seeing more male role models outside of the church. The NOI took a tremendous amount of men out of the church in the 50s, 60s and 70s, and that grouping will never go back.

I don't debate theology. This is about the stance of the catholic church.
They didn't pioneer the sciences.
They FUNDED scientific experiments and adopted them only up until they didn't conflict with central theological dogma.
The german church funding improvements in glass technology or astronomy which were both state-secrets until the 1800s doesn't challenge or change much in the same way metallurgy improvements doesn't change much in the bible until you start asking central questions usually addressed by the existence of deities...namely human origins.
