shyt was a cartoon that had nikkas fighting, explosions, fatality like deaths and the protagonists and antagonists would one up each other with power-ups often so there was always something to talk about. also, the animation was good for them times. the shyt just stood out from the other cookie-cutter cartoons we had on tv back then, and now nostalgia and memories works on its favor

there's really no hidden rocket science behind its popularity

but yeah man, vegeta sacrificing himself vs majin buu was a real nikka moment and everybody i knew back then talked about it for days/weeks

I've seen thorough grimey street nikkas be fans of DBZ. I ran with quite a few of them. We loved DBZ just as much as the ultra fanatic nerd type nikkas. That shyt was so dope how it had nikkas uniting from all types of backgrounds. Non of that image shyt matters, When DBZ got brought up, believe brehs was all in. Cant be hard all the time screwfacing for no reason.

Even had one nikka who was the plug for the OG Japanese DBZ movies with the subtitles. nikkas use to come in singing the "Head cha la" Theme fukking up the lyrics cause they didnt speak japanese.

This shyt makes perfect sense when you think about it :ohhh:

So much of DBZ is relatable to the black man.

Saiayan Saga -
Meeting the brother you didn't know you had, mobbing with your kinfolk to take on a bigger threat and Having another man raise your child while your indisposed

Namek saga -
Traveling to a neighborhood (planet Namek) that's unfamiliar to you and filled with nikkas that wanna kick yo azz

I knew thugs that cried when Krillin died :wow:
