Poor Black people were literally starving without Welfare. Many of them were fukking sharecroppers living in shacks, because Jim Crow society did not allow them the opportunities of other Americans like you Cac. No we don't agree. Welfare extended to Black families that required that the father to be put out the home thereby destroying the basic family structure and causing greater long term poverty was bullshyt then and is bullshyt now.

On the flip side many of the fathers were already out of the home because they ducked responsibility of raising families, and because some black men couldn't step up to the plate, it forced black single mothers to rely on the government to feed their kids. 2 sides to the equation breh.

Every single voting elegible Black person in America should register as an independent.

Stay on the fence and make both "sides" fight and claw to get you off of it every election. Use your unpredictability as an assett.

There is no progressive agenda that suits us, or progressive coalition that stands with us. Stop being sitting ducks that make it easy for one side to suppress our vote. Voter suppression only happens to people that are predictable in their patterns and behavior.

Stop using buzz words like "allies" "minorities" and "people of color". You're Black. Before you're gay, or Muslim, or Christian or feminist, or liberal or progressive. You are BLACK.

This is may be the way to go from a long term sense.

Not disputing this to some degree, but its not the sole reason. To paint the picture like welfare is the sole destroyer of black household is really irresponsible. You could say its one of the benefactors of it, but far from the main culprit. You can't skip to #3 and pretend like 1 and 2 don't exist at all.

There are other destroyers like the War on Drugs; the criminalizing of minor offenses and stuff like that. Let us not not pretend that government policies have not negatively impacted poor Black people. Right now they are decriminalizing some drug offenses that they have been locking Black men up for the last 30 years. Are you saying that those incarcerations causing absences of fathers from the family have not impacted the family? Because that would be delusional.

I don't want to get the absensce of the father confused with a lack of father hood because the 2 doesn't necessarily correlate. But if we are speaking on the rise of the single black father. There are a multitude of things that all play into it, we just cant pretend that lack of responsibility is not a factor as well.

Even we are eating rice every goddamn day, I will NEVER abandon my family and leave my kids to accept handouts from this government. Oh Moms was a beast, never been on food stamps a day in my life. Worked from morning to night to provide and worked her way up the ladder to making over 100k a year, while raising 4 boys.
