Because a proper skill gap is ok. It's still pretty easy to get through the normal difficulties without using jump cancels, RG JUST RELEASES, etc.
But skilled players could improvise and do things that set them apart. More complexity and depth in the combat system means more option and longevity.
Keeping airborne with combos was a measure of skill, I can stay airborne in DmC with my eyes closed.
It's a good game. The definitive edition is a great game. It's just pretty damn shallow when compared to the other games in the series so it gets beat up. Hell, Nero had more complexity even with one weapon simply due to his revved up engine sword and use of Devil Bringer
my argument is that even though DmC's gameplay was streamlined to a degree, it certainly wasn't lacking in options or depth. and you can't call it shallow when it shyts on 95% of action games not named DMC3 & 4
you really think the average player is playing like this?
this is what it looks like when DmC's combat system is used to its potential. a proper skill gap from what the average player could do. it's gameplay is legit and unfairly hated on.
and about Nero in DMC4, stop it. he's easily the most shallow character in these three games (DMC3, 4 & DmC). he was meant to be a starter character to introduce new players to the mechanics. he doesn't have half the options DmC Dante does. his chain links alone shyt on Nero's devil bringer
