That makes sense. Do you have any idea why it took exactly 30 years from the release date for it to be on streaming services? I just figured he didn't have complete ownership of the song and some other party was blocking it from doing so.

I think he's owned the song since '95.

It was released initially as a promo white label on Roc. And Freeze/Priority Records distributed it later, so he could've done whatever with it, if he wanted to. Def Jam and Universal couldn't touch that. It was never on RD.

He still doesn't own RD entirely, until like 2031, but he's been able to throw that album all over streaming, for years. So it just seems like he just chose to do it now to commemorate for the anniversary. People have been asking forever for a reissue too.

He was splitting the ownership with Dame and Biggs.

They all owned 33.3% each. But I think Dame's third is up in the air right now.

Jay will own it outright in like 5 years.
