Nelly was a pop singer not even a rapper, truly a glorified Flo rida, making hype club songs. He had a great 5 year run in the early 2000s, but yall need to stop with this glorification of Jay-Z and 50 cent. They have been trash for a very long time now and are only relevant because of things they have done outside music.

I don’t know if you can say Nas has remained in the spotlight. Dudes great and hip hop heads love him, but I don’t think Nas saw anywhere close to the commercial success Nelly did. Nelly had a huge “fall” because dude was selling so much.

From Illmatic (1994) through Nasir (2018) (12 albums) Nas sold 14 million albums. Nelly sold 16 million from just his first 2 albums.
