If any of you had NBA2K1 on the Dreamcast you'd know why I'm saying that :dead:

were u just not an NBA fan in the late 90s/early 2000s?

IF you were, then this thread would hve never been made because you know the answer.

I was like 11 years old in 2000 so maybe I don't understand fully :manny:

but the Late 90s Early 2000 proved you win championships with two superstar players

98- Jordan and Pippen

99 Duncan and Robinson

2000 Shaq and Kobe

Maybe I was too young to understand, but it doesn't make sense that the Raptors drafted McGrady out of Highschool with a top 10 pick and then drafted Carter with a top 10 pick why not fight hard to keep both guys you invested in .

He and Vince played well together and off the court they were best friends.

From what I remember the Raptor coach started Doug Christie at shooting guard and started Carter at the 3 and gave McGrady like 20 minutes and under a game. McGrady was developing quite nicely in his last season with the raptors.

I keep on hearing that McGrady wanted to be the man but playing with Grant Hill who was a superstar at the time what was the difference.

The Raptors should have made sure he felt appreciated and offered him whatever to insure that he stays.

Once again, they did, along with Chicago.

It did not matter..

I met Grant Hill when he had to do one of those "go to a school & read clifford the big red dog to an auditorium of kids" things, mom was a teacher at the school. He was there in all grey sweatpants / sweater & that fukking ankle boot. Least he could do with the contract he got. should have had to do it for every school in the county.

why we signed him while he was on crutches :aicmon:

nice guy though

The Raptors organization fukked up with how they treated him. First Darrell Walker, his first coach, said he would never amount to anything in the NBA and had to be forced to play him by management. Then Butch Carter didn't want to play him extended minutes despite the fact that he was beasting in the second half of his last season here.

The organization fukked up more than anything.

Yep Butch Carter wasnt giving him starters minutes and he didnt want to be in Vince's shadows...

It did. Butch Carter and Tracy McGrady never got along in Toronto that's a huge reason why T-Mac left to Orlando

:dwillhuh:Butch carter.... I thought Lenny Wilkens wanted him to be a defensive stopper/off the bench and Tracy wasn't having that. I thought tmac took that as a big slap in the face cause not only did mcgrady see himself as a starter but as a superstar.

Edit: butch carter was the coach. I hardly remember them funding though. Maybe it was butch carter I'm remembering that felt like tmac wasn't a superstar.
