Was a coffin wi the jedi logo not enough? Him dying before his b*stard son wasnt enough? We had to see him BURN!?! Pretty dark for a kids movie with teddy bears

Oddly pointless and ive never heard this take

i mean I guess it's dark but I don't remember thinking much of it as a kid. It's kind of like a warriors burial know? It's ceremonial, almost like a honor. That's how I took it at least. It was closure for luke and the entire series.

To me this was a way of showing he redeemed himself, but he didn't ascend to the level of Yoda and Obi-Wan were he could become one with the force
