Why didn't Nash have a match @ Mania that year? Always found that weird

Short story: I was recovering from an injury and couldn't compete.

Long story: Because I still had my contract with Time Warner through the end of 2001, I traveled the globe wrestling at random indies in countries I never wrestled in. Right before Scott, Terry, and I came back, I hurt my biceps in a Chinese Prison Camp Death Match at an Indy outside of Shanghai. I tried to do an elbow drop off a ladder onto someone laid out on a light-tube table, however the bum was not on there properly and I landed awkwardly on my arm. Still managed to get myself inducted into the Chinese Wrestling Hall of Fame after that one appearance but it fukked up my Mania paycheck.

so someone post the quote or audio or video clip where stone goat is scared of his legacy, being insecure and afraid to be outpopped or booed by hogan, I'm waiting...

#Hulktales

there was a report on that and I know i'm not the only who read it I can't find it online though

Either way Austin basically ended up putting Rock over him in the history books because he didn't want to have that match with Hogan

you sure about that breh...box office and notoriety says differently

@R=G
The Rock's Hollywood career will probably make him always known more to the mainstream audience but if we're talking strictly wrestling, no one ever outdrew Stone Cold.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either one. But I think wrestling fans will hold Austin in higher regard than Rock. Barely, but Austin will always be ranked above Rock.

End of the day, I'm just happy I got to witness both in the greatest wrestling era that will probably ever be.

I don't recall Steve Austin ever saying he was afraid of reactions. ..There are shoot interviews from Russo and Ferrera that claim he might have been jealous and insecure of the Rock's popularity in 99 and they said Rock was easier to work with because he wasn't so political of his image or looking weak to push a storyline.

Historically Rock has been put in tighter spots..facing certain legends in their hometown...Austin did with Bret but that was 97 during the first 6 months of his face run. Never faced Rock in Miami or a returning Hogan after 10 years...stuff like that. Alot of Austin angles ran through TX when there was choices to be made to make sure certain things fit. Now one thing is certain....the only man in the history of this business to have fans fill the ring up with trash after he gets fukked by Steve Austin in Austins own TX is the Rock on the Raw after WM 17.

Then again....Austin said all along his heel turn needed the Rock to work out in the first place.

Hogan was nearly 50 when he fought The Rock at WM18

2000 was WWF'S most successful year money wise and rating wise and that was with The Rock and not Austin. In 99 Austin had The Rock and they were neck and neck that whole year. After WM17 in 2001 when The Rock left and it was just Austin on top is when the ratings started to go down.

Are you seriously trying to discredit Austin? C'mon now

Rock basically usurped the #1 position by the end of 1999. Rock and Austin always teetered back and forth on who was on top but by WM2000 Rock claimed that spot pretty clearly IMO

From Austin's interview on JR's Podcast last month:

Austin was also asked if he had any regrets for never working a major program with Hulk Hogan. The two did square off for a minute during a tag team match on RAW right before WrestleMania 18, which you can watch above. Austin said that at the time he was running real hard and was "hard headed as hell," and that he wasn't about to do a job for Hogan because the word then was that Hogan wasn't willing to do the favors for anyone. Austin said that while Hogan was open to having a match, he wasn't because he felt that their styles would clash and that the match wouldn't live up to his standards. At that time, Austin could go and he felt that Hogan would have been a step or two behind him, which wasn't acceptable to him. He won't do a high profile match just for a payoff. He said that if he wasn't as hard headed at the time, then a program should have happened, and he has the utmost respect for Hogan and everything he's done.

Austin brought up Hogan's match with The Rock at WrestleMania 18, and noted how they had the crowd in their palm of their hands. He said that it was one of the most electric crowds that he had ever seen, and that it was an unbelievable matchup, even though they didn't have to do much. He said that everything they did in that match meant so much and got an unbelievable response, and he took his hat off to both men for the match they put on.
