Only a talented wrestler could really pull off the "Deadman" Gimmick like Mark could.However,with that said, that sort of gimmick isn't the type for a Top Guy.
I mean look back in time at all the Top Guy Gimmicks, in really any federation; fans need someone they can relate to in some degree. An Over the top deadman gimmick can be legendary and even an entity, but it's not the type to put a company over the top.

this is the same guy that was main eventing within a year of his debut, and no one even batted an eye. everyone knew he deserved to be there.
not crazy to think that if you turn him baby he could be a big deal.

Fans loved him more than Bret and Michaels in the mid 90s. He was on top long before they got behind Diesel, Razor, Bret, or Michaels. He wasn't a industry changer but neither were either of those guys....Sid included. It took the Austin push to put them up ahead....
