Probably, cause during the 60s and 70s, blacks were trying to redefine themselves.

"Negro" and "Colored" were getting the boot, and "Black" and "Afro-American" were hitting the scene. To fill that void of trying to reject pre-Jim Crow era societal norms was the Black Power movement group, Black Muslims, just overall need to connect with Africa. In that mish mash, Arabic and African names hit the scene, and then we jazzed it up :heh:...and started to get creative. That's where we are today.

That's why (MOSTLY) blacks born in mid/late 70s and early 80s are the first to have these "creative black names", along with actual Arabic and African names/words.

Lol nikka im from fukkin Montreal ive known way more arabs than u. the only arab ive ever heard about wit a name close to Jamal is French comedian Jamel Debouze.

Mohammed is a popular name. Youssef is a popular name. Even Salim. Never heard no Jamal.

My moms side of the family all got Arabic names. But, their from Morocco so..

me and my pops the only people i know with my name. so rare if you typed it in both our pictures owuld come up on google. srs
