:rudy: i hav never seen an arab wit dat name. AND IVE LIVED ROUND DEM MY WHOLE LIFE
:camby:

I must have met at least a hundred Arab origin people in my life and read at least a hundred Middle Eastern articles, I have yet to see an Arab named Jamal.

I know quite a few actually, I went to school with two one is Lebanese/Sierra Leone origin and the other Palestinian

Jamal is a great name, meaning beauty in Arabic. Jamila is the feminine version

Arabic is a very deep and rich language. Every word has a root that has a meaning.

My name is Jamaal. (The a's have those accents on top too :mindblown: ) My pops was trying to give me an African first and middle name. I love my name its one of the blackest names you could have in America :blessed:

Plus I love introducing my handsome self to Arab/Muslim girls. "How you doin sweetheart, I'm Jamaal" :shaq:

That shyt is like a self fulfilling prophecy :banderas:

I'm dropping my car off at the auto shop and the mechanic stops me before I leave and asks my descent. I tell him African american and Caucasian. He says it's because of my name (Jamal). Growing up I never liked my name, it just always sounded weird, and legally I'm a Jr. Anyway does anyone know why this is?
Get an Ethiopian name like Tewedros or Yohannes. Name your self after African kings breh and say your related to African royalty. Chics dig that shyt up. :blessed:

I have a real ethnic muslim/arabic name as well, Ive learned to like it as I grew up. It gives you something to talk about when someone asks your name; the meaning, origin, etc.. No one gives a fukk about a John, or Tom, or Michael. Ive only met a few people that have my name

I don't get this trend. Having an Arabic name is no more Afrocentric then having a European name. Neither of them came from Africa.

actually the original arabs were black and the arabic language is most closesly related to african languages. in addition the arabian peninsula is right next to Africa and before the last 10,000 years was attached to east africa. so you are categorically wrong about arabic names being no more afrocentric than european names.

:yeshrug:Everybody on Earth was Black at some point. Hell, Europe is just right above Africa and and they used to be attached for the longest.
