Well yea...he made it seem like the Macedonians would be gone fighting for a few years. They were gone for more than a decade :mjlol: they were beyond salty with that dude. Cats never made it back home. Alexander didn't want to rule his empire. He just wanted to fight, travel and conquer the whole world at 27. That's why his empire fell apart the second he died. Had he took a break for a few years after winning Persia and solidified his empire, he could've easily went into India and made lightwork. He probably might've thought to invade the rest of Europe too :manny: But he never wanted to sit down and rule anything. If he was smart, he would've married a Babylonian chick, had babies, and made arrangements to marry those kids off to people from Greece, Macedon and other parts of Persia to solidify his empire and keep all his "subjects" within the "royal family". THEN went off to go after India and other parts of the world. But he was dumb and impatient. That's why he died of fever and his boys destroyed everything he built two minutes after he was gone:mjlol:

Anything by A.B. Bosworth is great. While he lived, he was the world's foremost expert on the subject.

Pierre Briant is also a top quality Alexander historian.

If you prefer original source material, then my recommendation is Arrian of Nicomedia, Anabasis of Alexander. Plutarch's Life of Alexander is more brief and more entertaining, but less concerned with historical accuracy than Arrian.

I dont know shyt about alexander. What was his blueprint for conquering the world?

Outstanding generalship combined with a professional army that boasted the best infantry in the world bar none, to go with high quality missiles and cavalry. It was not a great army in size but everyone in it was a great soldier.

That being said most of his great victories were stunning achievements because his forces were always at a great tactical disadvantage. At the Granicus for example, his first battle against the Persians, they had to get across a river and climb a steep bank to make contact with the Persian lines. Now the thing with the Macedonian phalanx is that it is unbeatable if it has time to set up properly on flat, dry terrain, with cavalry and light infantry securing its vulnerable flanks. Having to get across a river to fight the enemy is possibly the worst situation for a Macedonian phalanx to deal with, because it takes a long time to swim across and in that time the enemy can get themselves organized to prevent you from deploying properly once you cross the river.

So what he did at the Granicus was amazing given how ill-suited the troops he had at his disposal were to handling that situation. Time and again after Alexander's death we see Macedonian phalanxes get obliterated whenever they are forced to fight in terrain and conditions that don't afford them the time and opportunity they need to get themselves set up properly, so for me this battle is the standout testimonial to his military genius.

People are literally walking around with pictures of slave owners in our wallets. They were put on money. White people have no problem honoring savages.

What are your favorite violent movies?

Not gonna lie, I like them as well. Why do we as a society like violent movies?

All time

Robocop
Terminator
Pulp fiction
True romance
Enter the dragon
The raid

I would have to look through my collection I am sure I missed some

Also I think our love for violence is part of American culture. Think about we can show people getting killed and show cartoon levels of violence and that gets movies an pg13 rating. Show a womans breast or any anyone gentiles and you get an r
:dwillhuh:

So people under 17 can handle violence but they cant see some women t*ts even if the scene is non sexual
