The East Coast fans jumped ship too, so obviously the South has been putting out better music ever since

Problem them boom bap beats aint have no bass

Soon as P and 36 came through with some bass it was over for that

This.

The lack of bass in the music of that 90's era NY "boom bap" shyt make their music sound dull, lifeless and outdated.

Because they didn't, NY did when they allowed whites to judge and distribute hip hop.

Also THIS

And this isn't brought up enough...REP sent.

Most of New York's biggest rappers & rap groups particularly from the 90's, like Nas, Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Jay etc. were given record deals without having to 1st prove that they were able to create a homegrown buzz and move units in masse without the benefit of major cac-run labels, and their promotional/distribution channels and financing. They were given these deals because some old cac in a suit & tie liked their music and thought they would be able to sell these rappers to the predominately white rap consumer without any real beforehand proof of their drawing power...While Southern rap groups like Geto Boys, 3-6 Mafia, 8Ball & MJG, No Limit/P, Cash Money/Hot Boys created their fan bases from scratch, and were able to move 100,000's of units BEFORE their record deals primarily off the black consumer, without any access to the financing and promotional/distribution channels that their NY contemporaries had... Is there any wonder why Southern based artists have gotten the most play in THE STREETS nationwide for the past 20 or so years? They make music that real nikkas could feel...while NY based rappers generally make music that cacs/cornball brothers find relatable.

Waits for NY posters to come in and fight against this :sas2:

So the like of the LOX and MOP make music for cornballs and CACs? Because they rap on boom bap beats?
