Nothing to brag about but Chicago is the only American city with a gang culture thats just as old and expansive as LA's

It's mainly GDs between the two in other parts of the country. Before Chief Keef got poppin, it was rare to see a BD set outside of the Chicago area.
Here in Atlanta, GDs used to be a much bigger player in gang culture. A lot of people who claimed GD flipped from GD to Blood when Lil Wayne made it popular in the South.

bloods and crips just got to the south in general in the early 2000's. prior to that, nikkas in texas, arkansas, mississippi, and louisiana had no clue what gang shyt was. gd's being in atlanta prior to that in the 90's I can see just from the sheer numbers of chicago nikkas relocating there during that time. but like you said, wayne made it hot in the south while you also had a lot of crip and blood members getting locked up and putting nikkas on in prison, so there was two fronts.
i wonder what happened where homicides spiked this year but then tapered off the next.
