When I was 14 I read Monster Kody Scott. That book changed my life. My cousin was a crip from the west end of Toronto(yes we have had blood and crips here since at least the 90s). He was staying with me and earned himself a government sponsored vacation. Monster and autobiography of Malcolm X were 2 books he left behind. This a$$hole had all the bad shyt Monster did highlighted in the book. Me, I read that shyt and it scared me straight. Dude was shooting up houses the same nignt he graduated grade 8. I was one year out of grade 8 so the book just seemed relatable. Flash forward 30 years, and my cousin is probably in jail for the rest of his life after catching 2 bodies and trying to kill his bm. There are Bloods in Chicago, very small number and originated with someone from LA so not a copy. But Chicago has its own unique culture. It didn’t copy LA. Everywhere else copies Chicago and LA, except South Florida.
