Yup. It seems like it was all at the census takers discretion back then too. On some censuses they're listed as Mulatto, on others Black.
:yeshrug:

Do you think they would continue to identify as mulatto if it was an option?

Not sure to be honest. My grandma's(paternal) side is pretty adamant about identifying as Black, like all them had to scrap to prove it growing up, all ended up with dark skinned spouses. Hell even her grandma, who from what I heard was passable, self-identified as Black...yet it took my grandma's generation to actually break the mold of dating light. What's interesting is they also claimed Native ancestry, which was common with most mixed groups back then. My great-grandma's side(maternal) was exactly the same way.

This is true for the most part.

And honestly, it's not just light skinned women.

It's sorta a popular trend for all black women to be somewhat ":scust:" in regards to light skinned men nowadays.

It's either dark, caramel, or white.

light skinned/high yellow niccaz are at the bottom of the totem pole.

They ate well in the 80's, but even plain ol white dudes have surpassed them at present

High yellow niccaz have to be exceptional to stand out.Fresh out the gym, ripped, and exuding "masculinity"

Or have a crazy symmetrical face to go with some exotic eye color or some shyt.Even then, they're more of a novelty act.

Kinda like that "Prison bae" dude a few years back.He had the bad boy appeal/symmetrical face.

And niccaz was trying to use him as an example of black women stil being "crazy over light skinned niccaz"

but he's one of the exceptions. The typical light skinned dude's not getting that kind of response nowadays.

Whereas back in the 80's/early 90's, a regular ol light skinned cat like this

would have his pick of the litter. Those days are extinct, removed, long gone....
You wish.

Yeah they not popping like that no more :pachaha:

Let a black girl show up with a "regular ol" light skinned nicca at a social function.

Her girlfriends gone be looking at her like "You still driving that old late model/ '91 Ford Focus? :hhh::usure:"

They're past settling for that. You subconsciously look like a lame b i t c h settling for a "regular ol" high yellow nicca these dayz

"You still got one of those?:russ::umad:"......I've seen black girls bond over dogging out high yellow dudes.

Ironically, they're not opposed to fukking with ligh skinned men. It's just that the initial skepticism is strong.

A light skinned nicca could still capture her attention if he had the gift of gab and a lil magnetism.

He could still have her hiked up, wearing her knees like earrings.

It's just that high yellows aren't their 1st choice anymore....them niccaz down at the bottom of the list.

They're not fetishized amongst black women anymore.

The dark skinned brothers got that spot sewn up....and not just amongst black women, but all women---universally
.

You wish.
