Every superstar rapper has a ton of white fans...so it's not some subtle race shyt going on...it's more about the hipster train of thought being that knowing about obscure, unknown rappers makes you better.

Ehhh...I ain't read through the thread but like gater said, anybody who's actually popular have to have a gang of white fans...it ain't about "white" it's about nikkas (of all colors lol) who have that underground mentality that a rapper all of a sudden becomes "kitch" and too popular to like, you can call it hipster but really I don't even know who or what the fukk those guys are...
I remember way back in the day being that I listened to a lot of underground rap, guys like em damn near completely lost their core fanbase as soon as they started selling records. Jay benefited from rapping/behaving like a mainstream nikka from the jump, ie "can't knock the hustle"...look at NAS and how nikkas turned on him as soon as he stepped up his mainstream prowess...shyt ain't about cacs, it's about fickle ass douche bag fans.

didn't read the whole thread, so my bad if it's already been said ..but this is about as obvious and self evident of a fallacy imaginable...if the majority of white hip hop fans only dug obscure underground acts, they would cease to be obscure or underground...there is a segment of hipster or nerd white rap fans that hold almost a punk rock type of aversion to mainstream success, but they are FAR from the majority...otherwise, those acts you are referring to would be platinum acts like macklemore...

Doesn't the white culture often show an aversion to the braggadocio style that is found in our culture? Not just in the music but sports also? It seems to me that they HATE it when, for example, a football player does his dance in the endzone.
