Advanced metrics all rate Jordan, Kareem, Magic, Chamberlain, Duncan, Shaq...all of them as supreme players.
The metrics are mysteriously biased against one guy.

I dont need to watch those shows to know what they're spewing. I can tell by the threads that the slow people on the coli are making. You have horrible memories of how bad Kobe was slurped by the media during his career and even now. Just a few days ago I heard a bunch of crap about his new show and how he's still dominating the league with his insight.

It is not necessary to be into advanced analysis to enjoy basketball.
But if you’re going to insist that 1 player is better than another player, understanding the metrics that more completely explain what happened on the court is extremely helpful. I only hesitate to call them necessary.

Nope, you have a bad memory. From 2008 to 2011, Kobe was god status in the media. Anytime LeBron's greatness was mentioned, they were quick with the qualifiers that he wasn't a championship player and he wasn't clutch like Kobe. They already knew he was bigger, stronger, faster, and crushed him in the major statistics, but they still always addressed Kobe as the champion and the best player in the league.
Once LeBron had championships, the argument was over, but they'd usually just act like Kobe just got old and injured and they wouldn't acknowledge that LeBron was better than Kobe ever was.
