Why do people choose work over a family?

I would much rather work than be at home with some kids and a husband. Ya'll love romanticizing shyt that's not romantic. Most parents look so beat up by life.

Most people's motivation to have a family is pure selfishness and let's be honest...that's usually the highest accomplishment that many people can achieve.

It literally takes no amount of intelligence or discipline or any sort of high level skill to fukk and have a baby. None.

A lot of people only have procreation to contribute to the world so they try to make it grand...the same shyt that even the dumbest animal can do.

Don't bring home any money and watch how your family turn on you, but have a lot of it and they'll treat you like you're the second coming.
:wow:

People really over rate family; my mom always told me remember you're not a fly on the wall. That my family thing is a cop out tbh.

On Family Feud, Steve will occasionally ask people what they do for a living.

Every time a woman responds with something like “I’m a mother and I raised 6 WONDERFUL children!!!”, you can clearly see the look of disgust on Steve’s face.

Like, that’s all you ever did in life? That’s your biggest accomplishment?? Anybody could do that.:hhh:

No shade to moms. (Some) Moms are wonderful but being a mom is not an accomplishment. It is honorable if you do it well and with good intentions but it literally a base level process.

I remember when my dog had puppies. She literally hated that shyt. Once they were a certain age, she would literally regurgitate some food twice a day and run for her life. I had to take care of them for the most part until I found them homes.

I thought she would make a fuss when I found them homes but we were both elated when I sold the last puppy. We snuggle for hours trama bonding.

:pachaha:

I immediately went and got her fixed and we lived out the rest of her days happy and child free.

If you don’t have a family, by all means, choose your adventure. Work, don’t work… be homeless or live in a mansion. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Whatever’s clever to you. Get it how you live pleigh boi.

BUT… if you have a family and they never see you. You never show up for their games, their school events, know who their friends are, etc. you’re a failure. None of your coworkers will be by your bedside when you’re dying and if you neglect your responsibilities as a parent, neither will the children who don’t know you.

Money is great, but you have to have balance. If you brought children into the world, it’s your responsibility to guide them and give them your time and love. Money isn’t a replacement for the wisdom they need to survive out here.

It's funny how people treat work as a last stop. A job is a tool to propel you to the next level or help you accomplish a goal. That's it. There is a ton of value you get from work but it doesn't have to equal your whole existence.

It should never be a replacement for life and life experiences. The way people look at work is just odd to me.

I honestly think a lot of people are just lazy and they don't want to put additional work into their own social lives to have that balance so they demonize working.

I worked crazy overtime for years and still have a better social life than most people I know.

Both of my parents were business owners, landlords and executives. My mother is a trailblazer in her field. I am also a business owner and put A LOT of work into my business and work a 9 to 5 in addition, as I just got my trademark approved last month and I am prepping my marketing and rollout for 2026. It has been a busy year, BUT… I show up for my children.

I’m not here to call anyone lazy, but I damn sure won’t be killing myself for my 9 to 5. I double (or more) my base pay in bonuses and commissions every single month. I had a girl who’s always above me on the leaderboard try to stunt on me last week because she’s closing more deals. She doesn’t know I make more money than her because my deals stick.

:mjlol:

I do more with less. As a kid I took work smarter, not harder to heart.

Balance is key. Sometimes people have long-term goals that require them to sacrifice family time and energy but that will eventually be beneficial to family. Sometimes people don't really like there family that much. Sometimes people get addicted to the grind. All sorts of reasons.

To me it makes no sense. This goes for both men and women. That job means nothing when you get to the end. I've yet to hear about somebody about to die and wishing they had more time to meet with clients and submit reports.

I have an aunt in her 50s who got laid off during covid from her bank. She worked there for decades building up becoming an executive. Never got married and never had children because she was very education and career driven. She got laid off with a severance and is no longer tied to that bank she worked so hard for. No plaques are put up in her name.

I only say this because I just seen Condoleezza Rice on TV at the Broncos game and it dawned on me that I don't even remember what her position in the government was. So I looked her up and also saw she was an only child. Never been married and no kids.

So she hasn't had a living parent for 25 years.
She doesn't have any brothers or sisters.
She doesn't have a husband.
She doesn't have any kids and grandkids.
That shiit has to be hella lonely.

I understand working hard, but that shiit never lasts forever. Not saying to ignore work, but I just can't fathom having a growing family and deciding to spend 80 hours of my week at an office around people I don't give two shiits about. Or not even having a family at all.
Isn't Condoleezza Rice a closeted lesbian.

Also people choose the meaning for their lives. Some people choose work and money
