I love go go music it reminds me of Hip Hop Soca.

Funny thing though when my friend from Baltimore visited, she was doing that go go dancing to some regular music and it looked weird af.

Go go dancing is 4 go go music only lmao 🤣
That's actually a good comp. Trini soca. Both are about vibes.

As a transplant who only stayed for 6 years, I can't say I know the eras. I know of some of the artists, like Chuck Brown
It kinda depends on if you're in your 40's There was a song that Junkyard played and nikkas would just take bytches shirts off and everyone was teenagers so you saw kid t*ts that was insane before the #Metoo era.

Then there was that Johnny Gill & shabba Ranks collab

It wouldn't be a Go Go cover if they just didn't take a piece of the song and play that so they just played the part when they said Take it off repeatedly and some girls would get naked right there. Again Go Go so usually it would be a fight which would shut down the shyt.

Then there was the time that Northeast grovvers got dancers then a lot of little bands had bytches.

I remember a dude I know posted a video of the NG dancers Sunshine & Juicy and if I was around 16 or so and they were about 20 They gotta be like 50 something grandmas and Program assistants at the Department of Commerce or something.

The Big Bands like Essence didn't use dancers they just had bytches come on stage and then you had the Infamous swimming pool party.

I was supposed to go but went to see Northeast I could say |I saw the tape that Jeff forn NG tried to sell me (he sold PA tapes himself) My little cousin brought the tape by but it had so much tracking because he rewound it so many times I barely saw anything.

Damn VHS tapes I'm old as shyt.

Ya'll keep forgetting the greatest mainstream GoGo song of all time, EU - Da Butt
The wild thing is everyone said that EU played background for the song ( I don't know why people beleived that because They're talker would've said it a million times they never even hit the song as far as I know)

Turns out it was all white boys behind that

actually it was some go Go dudes but they didn't say it was E.U. but to think that some white Londoners knew what Go Go was in 1985 is crazy. We are the most studied and copied people in the world.

Where are you from? Obviously I'm not on that diaspora war shyt I'm from Brokklyn but I grew up in DC and played taht shyt for every Black person not from DC and they hated it.

Again I went to school down south where the DC mob ran the yard so Essence played and the crowd dug it.

I remember someone showed a video of Junkyard in Japan that's kinda hard to believe, I wonder howw many fans would you need to bring them somewhere because if you put a Go Go band on with any Black act they would have to close the show and the people would be feeling it.

It’s funny how GoGo music actually requires musicians and talent to perform but the people hating on it probably only like that fake studio produced music.

GoGo is not just some pots and pans as the haters like to say. It’s actually a showcase of real instrument playing. I’ve been in the DMV since I was 5 years old.

I’ve been to multiple spots where GoGo bands played back in the day.

And you would have to be there to understand, but the energy that GoGo music brought out of people was crazy.

Even if you don’t like it, you can’t deny that you actually have to know how to play an instrument in order to perform it.

GoGo is talent. That’s how I see it.

How old are you? basically i was in the Ruff it Off era and checked out when the calm period happened.

I can't really imagine a Go Go without a fight it kinda goes togethet (in my era) like PB and jelly.

It seems weird to call myself a fan because it was so DC like 996 New Balances no one else wore them shyts and that was fine by us It announced that you were from "the urea".

Again I loved it but I wouldn't really advocate nikkas replecating that era. But it's also crazy that DC drill became a thing considering it was a period that nikkas in DC hated Boom Bap New York rap.

I’m an 80’s baby. The ignorant folks that wanted to shoot and fight doesn’t change that it actually was live band music.

I’ve been to the Classics, Tradewinds, CFE etc.

Now I usually only went because my sister was a huge GoGo fan and I got dragged along, but it never failed that every time we went, a fight would break out, lol.

I never understood why, but I guess people just got too hyped or someone beefing with someone else happened to see each other.

Music is suggestive. Again nikkas said take it off take take it off and women did it.

You were of my era but he didn't go to the super hood spots like the Eastside, Cherris and the Ice box/ Zulu Cave.

No I definitely did not. My sister and brother went to those spots.
