I understand the racial history (particularly from the 50s, 60s, 70s,) but Boston proper is also half non-white and has a very racially/ethnically/culturally diverse city. Moreover, we do have a black governor.

Boston also had the first racially integrated professional sports team.

Personally, I think the city gets a bad rap based on the whole bussing situation but the city has DEFINITELY changed since then.

What do you think?

When did the Boston Red Sox integrate their team? Why did it take so long? :mjpls:

Obviously Boston was dealing with its racial history.

Celtics were the first integrated professional sports team, though. The Celtics were the first NBA franchise to draft an African-American player -- Chuck Cooper in 1950. They became the first NBA team to send an all-black starting lineup onto the floor. :umad:

@flea, aren't you the one with the thread made about how you have a d*ck/giving head obsession? :russ:

People on the Coli don't like Seattle or Portland either, two of the most liberal, progressive, non hateful places in the U.S.

I was looking to go to college in Seattle (really Redmond), but stayed closer to home. I would have loved that place, I know.
