Why do people think Boston is a racist city?

Irish people (I hate generalizing), at least in America, really really hate blacks. At one point, the Irish were considered the nikkas of the white race. Weren't really considered white to be honest. They were called dumb, lazy, irresponsible. WASPs really used to shyt on them during the turn of the century. Little known fact, the Irish were slaves along with Blacks in South America and the Caribbean. Kinda like a Clayton Bigsby skit, the Irish went hard as they could against blacks in hopes that WASPs would accept into white supremacy and stop picking on them. And it worked Italians did the same thing. It's funny the two groups that were bullied by whites (Italians, Irish) 50-70 years ago are the most racist groups today Boston is almost entirely Irish (in terms of whites) and blue collar (poor uneducated white trash). All the makings of a racist cocktail.

I understand the racial history (particularly from the 50s, 60s, 70s,) but Boston proper is also half non-white and has a very racially/ethnically/culturally diverse city. Moreover, we do have a black governor.

Boston also had the first racially integrated professional sports team.

Personally, I think the city gets a bad rap based on the whole bussing situation but the city has DEFINITELY changed since then.

it's the irish.. i've been to ireland twice... they are just racist as fukk over there.. and it's not even blacks.. they hate everybody.. even if you just from a different part of ireland or a different religion

Some of you have a really odd way of interpreting racism.

If you're Black and live in a major city, you are experiencing racism all the time, whether you realize it or not. You think, unless they're calling you ******, the whites you encounter aren't being racist.

I remember the first time I went to Boston I was shocked at the number of Haitians there. It was so odd that I had always thought of Boston as a racist very white and cold azz city so that was the last place I would've expected to find a sizable Haitian population. But I can understand it because living in Boston would be a step up for them coming from such a poor nation. I always enjoy my time there but the cold aint no joke.

boston and cities like it (eg Pittsburgh) with large amounts of working class whites tend to be more racist cause working class cacs are not afraid of showing out their racism while the yuppies keep it on the low. in nyc working class whites are no different from those in boston ask anyone about areas like gerritsen beach, howard beach, and most of staten island or working class areas outside the city.
