No. It's just trash, trash form, lots of injuries, absolutely no transference to real life activities.

No...no it's not. I've done crossfit for over 10 years. A butterfly pull up or a Kipling pull up is just a different variation of a pull up. Yes there are people that do movements with bad form I can admit that but there are people that do regular workouts with bad form as well.

Yall got me in here defending cf because of misinformation from people that I'm going to assume haven't done cf for more than a month th with a good coach and just go off of hearsay
that kip pull up goes against anything a trainer worth their salt will tell you.

You aren't controlling the negative, you aren't contracting at the top of the movement, and you use hella momentum.

Idk how that isn't just to do as many as you can for competition sake

The injury and bad form concerns with Cross Fit are very real and well documented.

You can’t just say injuries happen in all kinds of workouts. CrossFit is in a category by itself.

Also, you all need to find that 60 Minutes profile that they did on Greg Glassman. That charlatan is all you need to see to avoid CrossFit altogether.

Cause their "athletes" are annoying as fukk. All they talk about is crossfit. It becomes their whole life. It's a cult.

whole military dealing with a bunch of fat fukks who ate themselves out of body standards the last 3 years.
Once again, butterfly/Kipping pull ups are taught as a way to get through a wod. It is a standard rule that you must be able to do 10 strict puĺl ups before one moves onto them.

Strict pull ups are prioritized before anything else

I play two recreational sports. CrossFit is integrated into our training for both. One of my coaches has sent athletes to the Olympics.

I got on that wave early, like 06, at one of the first boxes in Western Massachusetts. It was legit just firemen, cops, and a few wives that were school teachers. The instructor was a white Muy Thai cat, and he had this Asian girlfriend that was an absolute psycho of a trainer. It was solid, but that shyt was expensive as fukk at the time, and there was no medical oversight. They would have nikkas doing really dumb lifts to failure; shyt just got unsafe
