Why do "real hip-hop heads" front like they weren't hating on Biggie/Pac/etc 10 years ago?

No the same thing cannot be said for Nas, most of those Big songs were huge hits & actual classics, hate me now was a corny minor hit & is only a classic to Nas stans. Carry on.
"Hate Me Now" is a classic. But lets be honest "It Was Written" is clearly Nas best album to date. Yet, it was hated by "purist".

People are going to have opinions. There are no universals and absolutes. Just because Biggie and Pac may have been unfairly maligned by some, doesnt some how validate the following generation of rap stars, who bottomed out the artistic quality of hip hop.

Besides, this can cut both ways. Underground rappers, and fans, have long been stereotyped as geeky, jealous, untalented, sea of immortal techniques with little in the way of ability, when there have been countless underground talents who never received their just due, largely owed to industry politics and/or lack of connections.

Its just embarrassing to me that cats like Black milk, Lil brother, Last Emperor, just to name a quick few were marginalized as "underground", while cats like Soulja Boy blew up.
I was basically saying that the same arguments existed within hip hop relative to artist who are now unquestionably considered ICONS.. There was a time when there was major backlash toward Jay, Big, Nas, Em, Wayne..Kane... etc. I'm seeing the same thing happen to Drake.... and I feel you on "underground" fans being stereotyped, as well as "commercial" fans... the key is in the "knowledgeable" fan though.... Like, hip hop as a whole may not agree on whether or not Jeezy is a legend, or if Nore was actually dope.. But when it comes to TOP TIER Mc's... those list never really change.. some names vary, but HIP HOP as a WHOLE agrees on most of who's considered Legendary nice... (Guys who have actually played the game on the highest stages at the highest levels...).. Ps. From wut I've seen, most exceptionally dope underground artists usually become mainstream. Every artist thats REALLY FRESH was considered underground at some point... It was never supposed to be a "Bad" thing.. Hell, Hip Hop itself was UNDERGROUND for years! LOL
